‘Toxic’ Pushback Leads to Release Change for Varun Dhawan’s Movie
April 29, 2026
The release schedule of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, starring Varun Dhawan, has been revised once again following a shift in the release timeline of Yash’s much-anticipated action film Toxic. Initially slated for June 5, 2026, the romantic comedy had been preponed to May 22 to avoid a box office clash with Toxic, which was earlier set for June 4. However, with Toxic now delayed, Varun Dhawan’s film will return to its original June 5 release date.
The actor officially announced the update on April 29, 2026, via social media, expressing gratitude toward Yash and the production team at Maddock Films for their cooperation in reshuffling the release calendar. He also highlighted that the film will be among the first theatrical releases following the IPL season, potentially benefiting from a less crowded entertainment window.
Directed by David Dhawan, the film is described as a “double trouble” romantic comedy. It features an ensemble cast including Maniesh Paul, Chunky Pandey, Jimmy Shergill, and Mouni Roy.
The screenplay is written by Yunus Sajawal, while the film’s music is composed by a team including White Noise Collectives, Tanishk Bagchi, Javed–Mohsin, and others. Cinematography is handled by Ayananka Bose, with editing by Ritesh Soni. The project is produced by Ramesh Taurani.
The shift reflects the fluid nature of film release strategies in the industry, where coordination between major productions plays a key role in maximizing box office potential and avoiding direct competition.
